Safety and Assumption of Risk
Last updated July 15, 2026.
Nargusta runs on Corinthian spirit and mutual trust between sailors. That trust is a wonderful thing, and it is not a substitute for your own good judgment. Please read this page before you host or visit anyone.
We do not vet members
Phone verification confirms that a member is a real, reachable person. It is not a background check. We do not screen members for criminal history, verify their identity beyond their phone, confirm that a boat is seaworthy or insured, or vouch for anyone's character, seamanship, or conduct. Club affiliations are self-declared, and community verification means other members have vouched for a claim, not that we have. You are responsible for deciding who you host, whose hospitality you accept, and whose boat you step aboard.
Meeting other sailors
- Meet in a public place first, such as a clubhouse, dock, or bar, before going anywhere private or offshore together.
- Tell someone you trust where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back.
- Keep your own phone, money, and documents with you and know how you will get home on your own.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, you are always free to decline, leave, or end a visit, no explanation owed.
- Use the block and report tools on any member who behaves inappropriately.
On the water
Sailing, boarding an unfamiliar vessel, crewing, and day sailing carry real and inherent risks, including injury, drowning, and loss. When you go sailing with another member, you do so at your own risk and on your own judgment. Nargusta does not operate, inspect, insure, or crew any vessel, and is not responsible for anything that happens on the water or ashore. Confirm safety gear, insurance, weather, and the plan for the day directly with the skipper, and remember that the captain of any vessel has the final say and the final responsibility for those aboard.
This is not an emergency service
If you are in danger or need urgent help, contact the local authorities or the Coast Guard directly. On the water, hail for help on VHF channel 16 or call your local emergency number. Nargusta cannot respond to emergencies and must not be relied on for safety at sea.
Adults only
This is an adults-only hospitality network. You must be at least 18 years old to create a profile or use the platform.
Reporting a problem
Use the report and block controls to flag a member who makes you uncomfortable or behaves inappropriately, and reach out through our contact page if you need to talk to a person. For anything urgent or dangerous, contact the authorities first.
