Privacy Policy

Nargusta is a small, members-only hospitality network for yacht club members. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. This is a plain-English policy, not a legal document, written for a service of this size.
1. What we collect
To create and use a profile, we collect:
- Phone number, used to verify you are a real, reachable person and to sign you in.
- Name, shown to members you connect with.
- Yacht club membership(s), so other members know where you belong.
- Home port, so other members can find you by location.
- What you offer, such as club access, a mooring, a day sail, or local hosting.
- Approximate location, only if you tap "Use my location." We do not collect your location unless you take that action, and it is used only for that session's search.
2. How we use it
- To verify that you are a real, reachable person before you can appear on the platform.
- To show your profile to, and connect you with, other verified members.
- To let you search or browse members near a destination.
- To send you SMS verification codes and connection notifications through our SMS provider, Twilio.
3. Sharing
Other members can see your name, yacht club(s), home port, and what you offer while browsing or searching the platform. Your full name and phone number are revealed to another member only after you have both accepted a connection request. We do not sell your personal information to anyone. SMS messages are processed by Twilio, our SMS provider, solely to deliver verification codes and notifications on our behalf.
We use Google Tag Manager to understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited). This may set cookies and share usage data, such as your IP address and pages viewed, with Google. It is not used to identify you to other members.
4. Location and passages
Location is entirely optional. We only request your device's location when you tap "Use my location" on the browse page, and it is used only to sort nearby members for that search. If you never tap that button, we never collect your location.
If you plan a passage, we share your first name, club, route, and dates with hosts along your route so they can offer hospitality, and we send an alert text to on-route hosts who have chosen to receive them. A passage never shares your phone number. Place names you enter for a passage are turned into locations using OpenStreetMap, described in ourDisclosures.
Event presence (optional). If you turn on At an event in the app, we store a deliberately coarsened position (rounded to roughly a kilometer) with an expiry you choose (4, 12, or 24 hours). It is visible only as a nearby indication to other members who have also turned event presence on, is never shown as coordinates or on a map, and the record is deleted automatically when it expires or when you turn it off.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your profile information for as long as your account is active, so the platform can verify you and connect you with other members. If you would like your account and profile data deleted, contact us and we will remove it.
6. Your choices
- Discoverable toggle: turn this off in your profile to pause your listing so other members cannot find you in Browse or Search.
- Sign out: available from your profile at any time.
- Deletion: request that your account and profile data be deleted bycontacting us.
7. Adults only
Nargusta is intended for adult yacht club members. It is not directed to, and should not be used by, anyone under 18.
